What CAICC Is Up To Right Now

Young Tech, Dashiki Fashion Show, Cultural Wellness, and a Business Worth Knowing

A lot has been happening at CAICC this week. We wanted to take a moment to bring you up to speed on everything in motion right now, from a summer tech programme that is days away from starting, to a fashion show filling up fast, to a cultural evening that reminded us why we do this work.

Here is what is going on.

Instructor training is currently underway for the Young Tech Innovator Summer Program, and the energy heading into week one is exactly what we hoped for. The instructors coming in to lead the six course tracks, AI and Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking, App Development, Robotics, Quantum Computing, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation, are preparing to give students a genuinely hands-on experience from day one.

The programme starts on June 9. That is next week. And if you have not yet registered your child, there is still time.

This is a physical, in-person programme for students in grades 6 through 12. It runs from June 9 to July 24, 2026, in Denver, Colorado, and is free for qualifying families. Beyond the coursework, a field trip is already being planned, giving students the chance to step outside the classroom and see the technology they are learning about in a real-world setting.

If there is a young person in your life who should be in this room, do not let this week pass without registering. Spots are limited, and the programme begins in days

The 10th Annual Colorado Dashiki Festival is on August 29, 2026, and preparations are well underway. One of the most exciting updates this week: the Dashiki Fashion Show already has 15 confirmed contestants.

The fashion show is one of the most anticipated moments of the entire festival. Every year, thousands of people gather as designers and models bring African heritage and contemporary creativity to the runway. This year, as the 10th anniversary edition, the bar is being set higher than it has ever been.

There are still spots available. If you are a designer with an African-inspired collection ready to be seen, or a model who wants to carry culture down one of Colorado's most celebrated runways, now is the time to apply. Fifteen contestants are already in. Do not be the one who waited too long.

Last Friday, May 29, Cultural Wellness and Connection Fridays brought people together at The Love Center in Denver for a night of culture, creativity, and real connection.

The room was full. There was live drumming, storytelling, music, dance, and the kind of shared energy that happens when people are genuinely present with each other. Youth, families, and community members came together in a space rooted in African culture and open to everyone, and the feeling in that room was something that is hard to put into words.

This is a monthly programme, brought to you by CAICC in partnership with Struggle of Love Foundation. The next session will be announced soon. If you missed May 29, make sure you do not miss the next one.

While we are here, we want to take a moment to spotlight a business in this community that has been doing something quietly extraordinary.

Yummy Meals is a Nigerian food truck based right here in Denver. With over 70 items on the menu spanning classic Nigerian dishes and African-inspired favourites, from jollof rice and pounded yam to egusi soup, suya, and so much more, there is something for every palate. They have built a reputation for food that not only tastes good but also carries culture in every bite.

One year in, the founder received a Certificate of Recognition at the African Chamber of Commerce Colorado USA 2026 Business Awards. In one year, she built a loyal community of customers who not only order the food but also talk about it, share it, bring their friends, and come back.

If you have not tried Yummy Meals yet, now is a good time to start. They also do event catering and interstate deliveries.
