Cultural Wellness & Connection Fridays — May 29 Recap

The Love Center, 12005 E 45th Ave, Denver, CO 80239
Friday night at The Love Center was good. Really good.
People came out; families, youth, creatives, community members, and the room was alive from the start. There was drumming, dancing, and the kind of back-and-forth that happens when people are not just sitting and watching but participating.
One moment that stood out was when an attendee took the floor and opened up about their culture. Traditional dress, what names mean, the food, the stories behind all of it.
They literally said, "I have so many stories. If you have any questions, feel free." And people asked. That is the whole point of this programme right there.
They also said something that got a laugh and a lot of nods: "Thank God it is not a virtual event." Because there is something about being in the same room with people that no online gathering can replicate. You meet someone. You hear their accent. You ask where they are from. You learn something you did not know before. That happened on Friday.
There was also a moment when someone said they were looking forward to meeting people who speak a different language beyond just hello. And by the end of the night, that had happened too.
Cultural Wellness and Connection Friday is monthly. If you missed May 29, the next session is coming. It happens on the last Friday of every month. It’s not too early to RSVP.
